The Kenya Swiss Diaspora Welfare (KSDW) was established in 2018 when like-minded Kenyans in Switzerland envisioned a society where they can come and holds hands together and promote the welfare of their members, as well as, seek avenues that would benefit the lives and livelihood of the same members. What informed the decision to establish this Society?
In 2018, Kenyans in Switzerland experienced three mysterious deaths involving their own. The mother of one of our esteem members was found dead in a house, another Kenyan on vacation was found dead in a hotel room, while another died in a hospital after a short illness. Necessitating the start of this welfare society was that fact that some members felt they did not need to depend on social media to be aware of such tragic occasions and to assist, but to form a group that would look into the welfare of the members and their immediate families here in Switzerland.
The first and foremost goal for the Society was to mobilize all Kenyans in Switzerland to find a solution to frequent burial fundraisings in the region. Most importantly, the welfare society now seeks to offer beneficial services to its members by way of social responsibilities like offering loans, make marriage arrangements, together with assisting in ill-health, bereavement, & funerals. Parting gifts for members is also a way of appreciating the company of members moving on with their lives in other places. Every year the welfare society organizes an annual ‘Get-together’ thrice a year, for instance, Tujipange BBQ, Madaraka Day & General Meeting,
